Eyebrow Hair Removal

Removing unwanted hair from the face and body is a normal occurrence for many, but eyebrow hair removal, because the area is so highly visible, takes a certain amount of finesse. While there are many different hair removal options currently available, only certain methods can help men and women to remove unwanted eyebrow hair. Excess hair between, above and below the eyebrows can be embarrassing for both men and women, but removing it may not be as easy as you think. Learn about different types of hair removal and see which will work best for you.

Shaving: Shaving is the most commonly used form of hair removal today but when it comes to eyebrows, hair removal via shaving might not be your best option. The eyebrows are a very small area on the face, yet they are very visible. Razors are quite large in size when compared to the eyebrow area; therefore it is hard to properly shape eyebrow hair when shaving. Shaving between the brows may not prove to be too difficult, but above and below are a different story.

Waxing: Waxing is a better temporary alternative for removing unwanted eyebrow hair. Whether doing it yourself or visiting a salon, using wax to remove hair makes it much easier to follow the shape of the brows for a more uniform look. The tools used during waxing allow you to perfectly shape your brows, so that only the hair you want gone is removed. While this method is temporary, hair will grow back in four to six weeks, it is still a better option when compared to shaving.

Electrolysis: For permanent eyebrow hair removal, consider electrolysis. Electrolysis treats hairs one at a time; therefore it is a great option for treating a small area like the eyebrows. Some consider electrolysis to be a tedious, time consuming process, but this assumption is made based on the treatment of large facial and body areas. A small area like the eyebrows can be treated in 15 to 20 minutes, and once complete, men and women will experience total hair removal.

Laser Hair Removal: While laser hair removal is a revolutionary way to remove unwanted hair, many people believe that laser eyebrow hair removal is not the best idea. The laser light that is used to treat and remove unwanted hair is not safe to use around the eyes. Therefore many laser centers will not treat directly below the eyebrows because this area is simply too close to the eye. Between the eyebrows (the glabella) and above the eyebrows are perfectly safe to treat, but for many, below the eyebrows is deemed too dangerous an area to treat. For those centers that do offer treatments for this area, be sure that they are reputable centers that have a lot of experience. Protective goggles should be worn at all times and the skin under the eyebrows should be brought away from the eye during treatment.

While removing unwanted hair is important to many, protecting your eyes should be your utmost concern. Know that there are several hair removal treatments out there that can safely and effectively remove unwanted eyebrow hair. Be sure to research each fully before making a decision and take all precautions necessary to keep you safe.
